Dad and his "boys" in better days at a Coors Field family reunion in 1995

Hi, It's that time of year again, time for the Alzheimer's Memory Walk. Alzheimer's fundraising has become my "cause" over the past few years as many of you already know. I didn't know much about it until my Dad, Charlie, was diagnosed with it in 1999 but got to know it all too well since then. Dad never got to the point where he didn't know his own family but confusion with relationships was frustrating for him. In March, 2001 he died at age 87, never knowing that he had Alzheimer's. We didn't have the heart to tell him since he used to say that "it would be the worst thing to have".
This year will be my 10th year with Memory Walk. I try to participate in the Ft Collins and Loveland walks every year. Ft Collins is just for myself but the Loveland walk is when I try to raise funds. Though I've had great support from friends and family to help raise donations over the years I want this year to surpass all the others. Besides Dad, Nina lost her Grandma to it at age 87 in 1991. My Aunt Martha was never diagnosed with Alzheimer's but displayed all the classic symptoms and in the months before she died at age 89 she knew none of her six children. Currently Nina's Aunt Elma, my Aunt Helen, Nina's namesake in Wyoming,a great friend of the family, Eddie Donovan and even my friend John Dooley (who was first diagnosed in his early 50's) are all suffering with this awful disease, along with family members of some of our friends. Please help me with my "cause" to try to put an end to this horrible disease. Thank you all!
